REVIEW: Decleor aroma purete imperfections roll' on

Hi Ladies,

I thought I would review a product which I bought quite some time ago and have been using pretty regularly over the past few months, the decleor aroma purete imperfections roll' on.

This is a roll on spot treatment which can be used 4 to 5 times a day but I usually apply it at bedtime and occasionally the morning too to any pesky spots. What I really like about this product is that it is really cooling and soothing. The fact that it is a roller ball means that it is really quick and easy to use. I find this to be much more gentle that previous spot treatments I have used, it doesn't irritate or dry out my skin. This doesn't get rid of blemishes overnight but I do think it makes them appear less red and angry if that makes sense and if I can feel a spot coming up and I apply this I do think its helps to keep it at bay.

As you will know if you have been following my blog for a while, I have been having problems with my skin for quite some time now, and I picked this up back in the summer when I was really struggling to get my skin under control. I used it a couple of times and wasn't too impressed, so this sat on my bathroom shelf up until just after Christmas when I decided I would give it another go and I'm really glad I did. I think that this wasn't particularly effective on my skin when it was really playing up, but now that it has improved and I am more focused on maintaining my skin as it is, I find this to be a really useful product for tackling any spots which crop up.

From what I can remember this was around £14 for 10ml, I still have about 3/4 of the product left and this is definitely something I will consider repurchasing.

I hope you've had a lovely weekend, and happy mothers day to any yummy mummy's reading this today including my super mum (love you!)

REVIEW: L'oreal elvive extraordinary oil

Hi Ladies,

A couple of weeks ago my dad treated me to the L'oreal elvive extraordinary oil whilst we were out shopping (thanks Dad!). I was browsing the haircare isle in boots moaning about how dry my poor blonde locks were when he picked this up from a promotional display and basically said how about this? I then preceded to moan that at £9.99 it was far too much for a stuggling student like me and before I knew it he was marching me to the till, getting out his debit card and telling me to stop whining (it worked!)

I have had this hair oil for a couple of months now, and as a self confessed haircare fanatic I thought I would give you my thoughts on it :)

Firstly, this is a product I would probably never have purchased myself. At £9.99, although I am known to splash out on haircare, this is a little too pricey for me. I also rarely go for hair oils, I much prefer cream based treatments to oils and serums. That said I was really looking forward to giving this a go.

I have been using this as the final product when I have blow dried and styled my hair, and occasionally on an evening if the ends of my hair are feeling particularly dry. I have been really surprised by how smooth and sleek this leaves my hair. I was really worried about it making my hair look greasy (and I still would not use this product anywhere near the root) but it does nothing of the sort. It smooths down fly away's and leaves my hair feeling and looking noticeably softer on the ends. I really like to use this if I am going out and have straightened my hair I feel like it gives my hair that healthy blunt look you always have when you have just been to the hairdressers!

So, Does this makes a lasting difference to the condition of my hair? I'm not convinced. I wouldn't say I have noticed a difference in the overall condition of my hair whilst I have been using this product, however I am suitably impressed with the finish it gives my hair in the short term which is unlike anything I have used before.

A little goes a long way with this product, I find that half a pump is easily enough to run through the middle-to ends of my hair (I have long hair and quite a lot of it). So although I still feel its rather expensive for what it is, I can see this lasting a really long time.

7.5/10 from me! Would I repurchase? Probably in the boots 3 for 2!

Have you used the extraordinary oil?

Tara Smith feed the root shampoo and conditioner :-)

Hi Ladies,

As a hair buff I was very excited to be sent samples of celebrity hairdresser Tara Smith's haircare range for review purposes. I had heard about the range before, as all of Tara Smiths products are made with natural and organic ingredients and are free from parabens, sodium laureth sulphate and many other harsh chemicals. I have quite a sensitive scalp so i was interested to see if specifically using a SLS free shampoo might work for me :)
The packaging is really cute and sturdy, the tag line is ''Tested on film stars not on animals'' which I though was great! The first think I noticed was the fresh minty smell these products have - absolutely lovely.
I received the feed the root shampoo and conditioner, which is formulated with bamboo extract to stimulate and nourish dry hair and five yeast extracts to supplement the hair and scalp with essential minerals. I also noted that both the shampoo and conditioner contain menthol and tea tree which must account for its lovely scent!
So what do I think?
As these products do not contain SLS the shampoo does not lather up as much as standard shampoo's do, So it is very easy to try and compensate by using too much product which can leave your hair feeling greasy (something I did the first few times using this!). However, once I wised up to what I was doing, I became suitably impressed with these products. The shampoo quite literally leaves your scalp tingling - its lovely and refreshing. The conditioner was by far my favourite though, it is really light in consistency and this definitely translates to your hair. It left my hair feeling light, sleek and hydrated - and remarkably tangle free (my hair is usually a long, blonde tangley mess!).
After using these products my hair feels squeaky clean, and even my boyfriend complimented me on how nice my hair smelt (it must have been nice!).

You can buy Tara Smith hair products online at Cult Beauty :) Hope you're having a great weekend enjoying the sunshine!

REVIEW: Batiste Tones for light and blonde hair :)

Hi Ladies,

As you will probably know if you have been following my blog for a while I am a big fan of dry shampoo, so I jumped at the chance to review Batiste's latest offering for you - Their dry shampoo with a hint of colour for light and blonde hair! I can remember Batiste bringing out coloured shampoo for brunettes quite some time ago, and although as a blonde I don't have too much of a problem with the ''silver fox'' look dry shampoo can sometimes give you if you don't rub it in properly I have fallen victim to the rushed spraying of dry shampoo + flash photography scenario - Not a good look! So I was very excited to hear about this product coming onto the market!

This dry shampoo has a lovely light, sweet scent, Similar to Fresh and Diva if you are familiar with Batiste's other dry shampoo's. Its very girly, definitely one of my favourites!

Although this does still require some rubbing in after applying I find it to be less chalky and not as noticable at my roots. Like other dry shampoo's it leaves my hair feeling instantly refreshed and squeaky clean.

The colour in this dry shampoo is just as it is described - A hint, and I am not sure how effective it would be at helping disguise root regrowth (luckily for me I've just had my hair coloured!) but I have noticed that it does subtly lift the colour of my hair at the roots and blends in nicely with my hair colour. For me this has the edge over my trusty Batiste Diva and I will definitely be repurchasing :-)

All three of the Batiste Tones are available instores now for £3.05.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Review : L'oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

Hi Ladies,

For years I have switched between the same few mascara's (benefits bad gal, Stila's major major lash and L'oreal voluminous in case you were wondering!) and although new mascara's promising longer, more luscious lashes are always appearing on the market I've never really felt the need try anything new and have stuck to the motto of ''if its not broken don't fix it!''

My mum, on the other hand rarely buys the same mascara twice and her latest purchase was L'oreals volume million lashes mascara which I swiped from her makeup bag as soon as I saw the amazing gold packaging (sorry mum - a replacement has now been purchased!)

I'm really enjoying using this mascara and it might even be sneaking its way into my favourites! For me it is one of those mascara's which works much better once its dried out a little. I have naturally quite curled lashes, and to begin with applying this was a bit of a nightmare - its quite a wet mascara and I would end up with it all over my eyelids (not a good look!) but a couple of weeks on its much better.

The main thing which interested me about this mascara (aside from its amazing packaging!) was its ''anti clump wiper''. This distributes the product really evenly amongst the bristles and gets rid of any excess giving relatively clump free application. The actual wand is plastic with evenly sized bristles which taper at the ends making it really easy to reach smaller lashes. It is quite a chunky wand, and has some flexibility which makes it nice and easy to use.

The thing I have been most impressed with, is the separation this mascara gives. I always tend to go for mascara's which give lots of volume which can sometimes come at the cost of good separation of your lashes, but this mascara seems to achieve both to a reasonable extent. Having said that I wouldn't class this as a particularly good lenthening mascara (but you can't have everything I suppose!)

Overall I've really enjoyed using this mascara, and will definitely consider repurchasing. It gets a thumbs up and 7/10 :-)

Hope you're having a great week!

Some Elf bits and bobs :-)

Hi Ladies,

I thought I'd give you a quick run down of a few elf products I have purchased in recent months!
First up is two of the single eyeshadows from the studio range, Sand dollar on the left and butter cream on the right.

I bought these when I was on the quest for a natural eyeshadow to wear all over my lid on a day to day basis. These are the two lightest eyeshadows elf do in their studio line, and although they are both pretty I have to say they are not quite the colours I expected from the swatches on the website, butter cream in particular is alot more yellow toned than it looks on the website. Sand dollar is completely white with some shimmer - very pretty for brightening up the inner corner. The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is ok. Not bad but definately not the best, I think the darker eyeshadows in this range probably have better pigmentation. The best thing about these shadows is the little mirror on the inside which is always handy!

Next up is by far one of my favourite elf products - the warm bronzer from the studio range.

I am sure you will have already heard about this bronzer but just incase you havn't the first thing I will say is that it is a total bargain for £3.50! It contains four colours which you can either blend togther or use alone. I mix them together and apply lightly with a big fluffy brush for a lovely natural sunkissed glow! The only problem I have with this product is that this is my 2nd bronzer and both of mine shattered once I hit pan on them, the same happened to my sisters and I don't think the pan holds the product particulary well so you have to be quite careful with it!

and finally, the studio powder brush.

I love this brush! It is so versatile, I have used it to apply mineral foundation, bronzer, blusher, powder and even liquid foundation! It is kind of like a flat topped kabuki but with a longer handle! When I first used this brush I was amazed by how soft it was, it feels lovely and smooth on your skin - definately one of my top elf purchases! I have quite a few elf brushes both from the studio range and the normal range and I'm always impressed with their quality.

Thats all for now! Hope you're having a fab week!

REVIEW: Sally Hansen Rapid Finish - Nail colour dryer

Hi Ladies,

I absolutely love painting my nails, however once I have finished painting them I can barely sit still for two seconds before running off to do somethings else and as a result my nails rarely look perfectly polished. I had thought about purchasing the Nails Inc fast dry spray but for £8.00 it was a little too pricey for me! So when I spotted Sally Hansen's rapid finish nail colour dryer in a local discount store for £1.99 I couldn't wait to get it home and try it out!

So what do Sally Hansen say about this product?

''This fast-drying spray guarantees a perfect manicure everytime! Dries to the touch in 30 seconds to help prevent smudges, smears and dents. Exclusive formula with shea butter, jojoba and sweet almond oils deeply conditions hands, nails and cuticles.''

and what do I think?

I am really pleased I puchased this product, I think it was an absolute bargain! Although it doesn't completely dry your nails after 30 seconds, they are dry to touch and not tacky, so you can go about your normal business with less worry of smudging or smearing your freshly painted nails. When using this, my nails feel completely dry much quicker than normal, and they have a lovely shiney finish :-). Although I really like the fact this product is a spray and not an aerosol, at first I was a bit put off by the fact that I couldn't concentrate the product onto my nails, and with just one spray my fingers and hands would be covered in the product. However when I realised how moisturising it is, especially on my cuticles, I didn't mind at all! Although it does have a strong smell, it is of almond oil so is actually quite nice! The only negative point I have is that the spray is very oily, so make sure you're not wearing you're favourite dress when you use it!

Overall I would give this product 4/5 and a big thumbs up, its definately worth a try if you come across :-)

Have a lovely weekend!

REVIEW: Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion

Hi Ladies!

Quite a while ago now, I was sent the skin MD natural shielding lotion for reviewing purposes. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but I suffer with really bad eczema from the top to the bottom of both my legs, this has been a problem for as long as I can remember and I am forever trying out new creams, ointments and lotions. The people at Skin MD say that not only can the shielding lotion enhance your skins hydrating and protective abilities but it is also used and prescribed by dermatologists so I was particularly interested in testing it out.

Right so here is the shielding lotion pictured below, I was sent a 120ml bottle which is priced at £14.99

The first thing I was really pleased to find is that the lotion is fragrance free - my skin is so sensitive I cannot put anything with ever so much of a hint of fragrance anywhere near it. It has quite a light, thin consistancy which makes it really quick and easy to apply. I was so impressed with how quickly this lotion sinks into your skin, it is almost instantly absorbed and does not leave a greasy residue which I often find with moisturisers. This makes it a great product to grab if you are in a hurry (which I always am!). I find this to be really soothing where my eczema is particularly sore. It also leaves my skin feeling hydrated for a considerable amount of time, I can apply it in the morning and quite happily go about my business for the day without feeling like my skin is drying out or needs a top up.

I can highly recommend this product to anyone who suffers with dry skin, I find it effective, easy to use, and unlike else I have seen on the market.

If you would like to find out more about the Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion, you can here, Skin MD also do a version of the shielding lotion with added SPF :-)

Soap and glory winners and losers! :-)

Hi Ladies,

So like many me (and my sister!) were very lucky girls this christmas and both got the soap and glory hatbox in our stockings. I've tried out almost everything in the hatbox now and have been using quite a few things on a regular basis, so I thought I'd just give you a quick update on one product I'm really loving and the moment and one which I'm not too impressed with!

So the product which I am absolutely in love with and just can't get enough of is The Greatest Scrub of All.

This is a facial scrub/exfoliator which contains ''A blend of super gentle silicami particles and salicylic acid loaded scrub beads'' It says on the container that you should use it 2-4 times a week if you have oily skin and less if you have dry/sensitive skin. I have dry sensitive skin and I love this product so much I have to almost hide it from myself to stop me from using it almost twice a week! I really love the consistancy of the scrub, it is rough enough to feel like it is properly exfoliating your skin, but is not too abrasive. After using this product my skin feels so smooth, squeaky clean and fresh as a daisy! Its definately one of my favourites!

5/5 and a big thumbs up from me!

and now onto the product which has is not recieving much love from my at all (and I had such high hopes for it!) sad times, and It is Hair Supply.

Hair supply is described as ''a gloss giving radiance and repair mask for all hair types'' When I saw this in my hatbox I couldn't wait to try it out, I love anything to do with hair care! and it smells absolutely gorgeous, it has what I would call the soap and glory signature scent - A sort of intense soapy sherbet! However after using it for the first time my hair felt sticky and extremely tangled whilst I was drying it, I put this down to not rinsing my hair properly. The next morning I washed my hair again (I wouldn't normally wash it this often but the product had left it looking slightly greasey!). This time I made sure my hair was rinsed really thoroughly, but when I dryed it I was again left with this awful sticky residue on my hair! I read the directions for use on the back of the tube and noticed that it said ''coats and controls split ends'' so I am not sure if this is something the product is meant to do, but whether it is or it isn't it definately doesn't work for me :-(

1/5 (the one is for the lovely smell!) and a thumbs down from me I'm afraid!

What are your favourite soap and glory products? and definately let me know if you have got hair supply to work for you or have had similar problems to me, I have pretty long hair so I don't know if this is a product which may be better suited to shorter hair.

Hope this was helpful!

REVIEW : Umberto Giannini Indulgent Beauty Moisture Mask

Hi Ladies!

So a couple of months ago I had a £2.00 off professional haircare voucher from boots which needed using up. After lots of ummh-ing and ahh-ing I decided a hair mask was just what my locks needed and decided to go for the umberto giannini indulgent beauty moisture mask. I can't remember exactly how much it costs in boots but I think it is around £4.99 so was a bargain with my voucher at only £2.99. Boots do these sort of vouchers quite regularly (I think I got the voucher as I had spend more than £5.00 in store) they're always a good excuse to try out something new! :-)

This is described as ''A deep treatment conditioner for dry, damaged hair that indulges the senses''. It is a once a week formulation, which should be applied liberally to damp hair, left for 3 minutes and rinsed off.

Firstly when I got home and opened up the hair mask I was pleased to find that it was packed full of product, theres nothing worse than getting something home and finding it is only half full! I washed and conditioned my hair as normal then applied the hair mask, concentrating on the ends of my hair, clipped my hair up with a crocodile clip and read my book patiently for three minutes as directed :-) When I rinsed the mask off my hair felt sleek and soft, I left it to dry naturally and once my hair was fully dry my ends definately felt softer and less brittle - result!

I have used this product once a week since (normally on a sunday!) it says on the pot that the longer the mask is left on the better so I have been leaving it on for as long as possible! I'm not sure that this product is having any lasting effects on the condition of my hair (time will tell - I will keep you updated!) But my hair is definately softer and sleeker after using it, it is also a lot less tangled which makes combing it alot less painful!

The only other thing is the scent, It smells clean, fresh and crisp which I like but does not leave a lasting scent on the hair. This is something I actually prefer but I know some people (mainly my mum!) prefer hair products which leave a really intense scent afterwards!

Thats all for now, I'm definately going to continue using this hair mask and will probably repurchase too! 4/5 for umberto giannini and a thumbs up!

REVIEW: Boots 17 Infinite lash mascara

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I havn't updated in a while :-( I had an exam at uni and have been at work all weekend but I'm back in action now with a review of a 17 product which I bought a couple of weeks ago from boots - The infinite lash mascara.

From what I can remember I think this cost about £4.99, when I initially opened it I was a little disappointed, the brush was small, plastic and bendy (I love big bristly mascara brushes like benefit badgal and loreal voluminous) However I decided to give it a fair try, and I was plesantly suprised!

The consistancy of this mascara is really nice, it doesn't clump my lashes or flake off during the day. It actually provides really good definition and adds length to my lashes. The only negative is that is does need topping up during the day something which I find you often need to do with cheaper mascaras.

So, overall a thumbs up from me and 6/10 :-)

REVIEW: Lee Stafford beach babe sea salt spray

Hi girlies!

I wanted to do a review of another Lee Stafford product and it is the beach babe sea salt spray pictured below.

This product aims to give hair that gorgeous surf chick look. Although this is something quite summery I think messy natural looking wavy hair looks so cute under a woolly hat in these colder months!

I normally use this on days when I want to give my hair a break from heat. I do not have naturally curly hair by any means (I wish I did!) but my hair does have a slight wave to it that this product seems to bring out and amplify just how I like it! After washing and conditioning I spray the sea salt spray all over my hair then pop it up in a towel for about ten minutes. I then take my hair out of the towel, part it where I would like it (without brushing!) and spray the product all over my hair again scrunching the hair up as I go. I also sometimes scrunch in a little hair mousse in at this stage. I then make a cup of tea, get on with my jobs for the day and leave my hair to dry naturally :-) I also use it on dry hair sometimes if my waves start to drop a little.

I adore this product. Like all Lee Stafford it smells gorgeous, and leaves my hair looking naturally tousled. It costs £5.99 from boots so its not too pricey either! it gets a big thumbs up and 4/5 from me!

Let me know if you would like to see a pic of my hair after using this product, and next time I use it I will pop a picture onto the end of this post :-)

Have a lovely weekend

REVIEW: Collection 2000 Collagen Curl Mascara

Hi ladies!

I mentioned a few posts ago that I had recently purchased the collection 2000 collagen curl mascara. I have been using it for the past week so I thought I've you a little overview of what I think! Here it is pictured below (I think the packaging is really cute!)

As you can see in the picture the mascara wand is curved, I havn't yet worked out the best technique for using a wand like this! (tips anyone?!) For me, I find it makes applying the mascara a little more difficult and it is hard to get to every last lash!

This mascara does what it promises - and that is to give curl. It gives my lashes an extra lift and va va voom, something which I really appreciate as I hate using eyelash curlers (they scare me!) It also provides some volume, but doesn't really lengthen my lashes.

The consistancy is pretty good, it is not clumpy and doesn't flake (yay!) however it does take a while to dry.

Overall I think this mascara is definately worth a try if its curl you're looking for, if its volume/length maybe look elsewhere! It costs around £4.00 from superdrug (sorry I can't remember the exact price!) I give it a thumbs up and 6/10 :-)

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

REVIEW: Lee Stafford Dehumidifier and Shine Spray

Hi everyone :-)

I just wanted to do a review on two Lee Stafford products which I have used ever since I can remember - The shine spray and the dehumidifier.

First up - The dehumidifier. I tend to like my hair to have a bit of volume, however on some nights out I like it to be completely poker straight, and it is on these occasions that is product comes in very very handy! After straightening, I spray this onto my hair - it comes out as a fine mist which makes it easy to distribute evenly. It stops my hair from frizzing, and keeps it super straight all evening (it also smells gorgeous!) This product is also great for using on holiday and before hitting the gym!

The shine spray is the best I have ever tried. Unlike most shine sprays which are either serums or come out as a laquer, this shine spray is like a very fine hairspray (think elnett!) This stops it from making your hair look greasey and weighed down with product. I love the effect this shine spray has on my hair, It makes it look healthy, glossy and gorgeous!

If you've never tried Lee Stafford hair products before I can highly recommend these two, not only do they work wonders but they smell amazing!

REVIEW : Sleek Eye Drama Mascara

Hi Ladies, So this is a review I've been planning to do for a while, I'm sorry its a little overdue but I wanted to give this product a good try so I could give you a lot of info on it (well as much info as you can give on a mascara!) Right so I'll get cracking, the product in question is the sleek eye drama mascara which I have in number 880 blackout.

I bought mine for around £4.00 from superdrug. There are quite a few sleek mascara's however I don't think they are displayed particularly well, there are no photo's or displays of the actual brushes so I bought this one (mainly as I was attracted to the packaging!) and had no idea what the brush was like at all untill I opened it at home. When I got it open I was a little disappointed to find that the brush was pretty thin and plastic its also very bendy (think maybelline define a lash - the green one!). As the name of the mascara was ''eye drama'' I was expecting a big bristly brush for lots of length and volume (loreal voluminous/benefit bad gal esque). Nevertheless I popped it in my makeup bag for trying the next day.

The next morning my initial impression of the mascara was a massive thumbs down. I found the flexible brush extremely hard to work with and literally ended up getting mascara practically everywhere except on my lashes! The bristles on the brush were not long enough to define my lashes, and the end result was very very clumpy (see my previous post on the simple sleek eye make-up looks and you'll know what I mean!). Now a week on, after using the mascara every day (and resisting opening my shiney new loreal voluminous) I must say I have warmed to it (a little). For me it doesn't really add volume to my lashes but it does add length, and after finally getting to grips with the bendy plastic wand it does define and separate my lashes too (with a little patience). It also dries quite quickly which is a plus.

Overall I'd give this mascara 5/10 and sadly I don't think i'll be repurchasing despite the fantastic price. If you like a sturdy wand and a bristly brush I would probably give this product a miss. However it is by no means the worst mascara I have ever tried, and I will definately be checking out the other sleek mascara's (who can resist at under a fiver!)

REVIEW : Garnier essentials soft and fresh day creams

Hi ladies! I have always been a clinique 3 step skincare girl, and am pretty much convinced clinique was the reason I stayed pretty much 100% spot free during my teenage years. I love both the dramatically different moisturising gel and the moisture surge moisturiser however being a skint uni student the time has come for me to look for cheaper alternatives. The two products which have managed (thus far!) to live up to my clinque expectations are the two cute garnier day creams pictured below.

They are the garnier fresh 24 hour hydrating day cream (green) and the garnier soft 25 hour nourising day cream (pink). Both cost around £5.00 for 50ml.

I have the tiniest little bit of the fresh day cream (I'm not sure if you can tell from the pic!) This is the first one I purchased around April/May so it has lasted me quite a long time! If I had to pick one of the two this would be my favourite. It soaks into the skin really quickly and has the same sort of consistancy as cliniques moisture surge which i absolutely love. It leaves my skin feeling fresh, hydrated and not the slightest bit greasy. I apply it on a morning after cleansing and toning, leave it for about 10 minutes and i'm ready to apply my makeup! I'm so impressed with this moisturiser and i'm definately going to try out some other products from this range.

Next up is the soft 24 hour nourishing day cream. I bought this when my fresh day cream started to get low, as it is geared towards dry and sensitive skin which I have. The nourishing day cream is much thicker and creamier in consistancy, and takes a bit longer to soak in. However once it does, it leaves my skin feeling soothed and non greasy. It contains essence of rose, vitamin E and a UV filter which helps protect your skin. I'm really impressed with this one too, however if i'm in a hurry I tend to reach for the fresh day cream as it sinks in that little bit quicker. If my skin needs a real moisture fix I apply this one, and I've also used it as a night cream!

I can highly recommend these to anyone looking for affordable skin care, and how cute are the little pots!?
