Nails Of The Day and Product of the week :)

Hi Ladies :)

Sorry for the recent lack of posts, i'm in the middle of moving house so things are pretty hectic! But I'm back with a short and sweet nails of the day and a new product of the week :) So as we move into Autumn (hello rain and gale force winds!) the nail varnish I have been reaching for most often is the very lovely Sephora by OPI Metro Chic, which I am sure you will have all seen before! :)

Metro Chic is a really unique dirty lilac toned grey, perfect for teaming with cosy chunky cardi's an jumpers as we enter these colder months! I have not tried any other polishes from the Sephora by OPI collection, but this applies great and lasts really well even without a topcoat.

You may have noticed that in the top right hand corner of my blog there is a product of the week feature which I try to update roughly weekly! I've decided to a little post each time I change the product of the week so I can let you know in a nutshell why I'm enjoying it so much! So this week the product in the spotlight is Elf's studio blush in Candid Coral :)

This blush is possibly my all time favourite product from elf, it is absolutely gorgeous and a total bargain for only £3.50. It's a lovely warm peachy coral with shimmer (but not too much!) which adds a pinch of colour and a lovely glow to your cheeks. I also find that this blush is the perfect size for popping in your handbag, and although I have had it for atleast five or six months I am no where near hitting pan so there is plenty of product too - I love it! :)

Hope you're having a great week!

Ins and Outs :-)

Hi Ladies

Its been a while since I did one of this posts, so I thought I would fill you in with my current ins and outs :)

In

Lush dream time temple balm - I picked this up a couple of weeks ago as sometimes I have real trouble switching off and getting to sleep on a night. This smells really soothing and relaxing and I do think it may have helped a little bit! The lush sales assistant told me that this was being discontinued so I'd pick one up soon if you want to try it :)

NYC liquid eyeliner in jet black - I really like NYC cosmetics they're really affordable and their nail polishes are fantastic! I have used this liquid eyeliner daily since I bought it, and it was only £1.99 what a bargain!

X factor - Its boot camp next week and I really enjoy X factor once the first round of auditions are out the way ( I can't stand watching the bad auditions - ultimate cringe!)

Disney - I've just come back from a few days at disneyland Paris with my best friend, I had such a fun time and it was a great way to finish the summer. I like going on the rides but my favourite part of being in disneyland is definitely the parades :)

Notice how grey the sky is in the 2nd picture - it makes the castle look a bit scary! It absolutely tipped it down an hour or so after I took that picture!

Out

Opaque packaging - You think you've got loads left then one day you've completely run out with no warning...very bad times

Kitten heels - I know they're coming back into fashion but they're definitely not for me, even if they do have a very very cute name!

Umbrella's - Why oh why do I always buy the pretty but not so sturdy umbrellas which blow completely inside out when its not even windy! I almost took off like Mary Poppins the other day!

and thats everything! I hope you're having a lovely week :)

A little Nail Polish Haul :)

Hi Ladies,

After being suitably impressed with my first essie purchase a few month ago, the lovely
carousel coral. One very rainy (supposedly summers) day I decided it was time to try a couple more - and the infamous seche vite top coat! :)

They are (from left to right) Van D'go, Seche Vite dry fast top coat and Lilacism :)

I love pastel nail polishes, I think they're really flattering (especially on my short stumpy fingers!) however they can be a bit of a nightmare to apply (hello OPI's mod about you!). Although both van d'go and lilacism look absoutely gorgeous when applied, they both have some familiar pastel nail polish problems!

Van D'go is a stunning pale pinky peach, I knew I would adore this colour as soon as I set my eyes on it, and although the finished product looks fantastic, this applies very streaky and is quite hard to work with. It took me a few attempts to get the application right first time, but for me its worth it for the gorgeous colour!

Lilacism is a really light lilac, very pretty! I didn't find this as hard to work with as van d'go it actually applies really well. However it is very sheer and it took three coats for me to get the coverage I wanted.

This picture was taken about 5 days after applying so I have been really impressed with its staying power, there is only one tiny noticable chip. I've also had lots of compliments on this nail colour - result! :)

I havn't actually used the seche vite yet, so I will let you know if it lives up to expectations! I am so impatient when waiting for my nails to dry, and I'm forever smudging them so I'm really hoping this topcoat does what it says on the tin!

Overall, for me both of these essies seem to have flaws in their formulation. However I am willing to overlook them for the fabulous colours, and they are both definitely up there with my favourite nail polishes :)

Can you recommend any Essie nail colours?

Because, well - Who doesn't love travel size!

Hi Ladies,

So as you know from my last post, I've just come back from my holiday in New York, and I thought I would share with you the cute little travel size products I took with me! I normally steer clear of travel size products, and in the run up to my holidays will put aside shampoo's and conditioners etc when they get about half empty (I will never understand why travel size products are often twice the price of their full size counterparts?!) But for some reason, when picking up some last minute bits and bobs a few days before my flight, I found myself lured in by the cuteness of these teenie weenie bottles and before I knew it, I was in the queue for the tills with a collection of them in my basket - Oops!

I love soap and glorys clean on me shower gel, its smells amazing, is really creamy, luxurious and suprisingly quite moisturising. I have used this in full size before as its been bought for me a couple of times in christmas/birthday gift sets but I'm reluctant to buy it as my daily shower gel as it costs around £5.00 which for me is a little pricey! I'm definitely going to watching out for any offers on soap and glory in boots though :)

Although I have used some aussie products before I had never tried the miracle moist shampoo and conditioner, so this was the perfect opportunity to give them both a try. The miracle moist range is formulated for dry damaged hair and contains queensland macadamia nut which is supposed to help condition and smooth the hair. Like other aussie products these both smell divine, sometimes I find hair products which focus on adding moisture to your hair can leave it feeling really lank and heavy but with these it was completely the opposite - bouncy, light and fresh!

and finally, that product which I just can't stop talking about - Superdrugs dry shampoo, this time in the scent head in the clouds. Again, I really love the smell of this product and I really like the fact that is sprays completely clear. However I would still reach for my trusty batiste diva when my hair needed a serious refresh as I do not find the superdrug version to be as good at absorbing the oil from my hair (something which I noticed more with this travel size version). I still have some of the full size version of this product left and I think I will definitely repurchase it - it is great for a light refresh, or adding a bit of extra volume but I'll keep a bottle of batiste on standby for those very bad hair days!

I still have quite a bit left in all of these, and I have one more mini holiday left this summer - to the most spectacularly magical place in the whole of Europe - can you guess where!? So they will be jetting off with me one last time. However I'm not sure if I'll be splashing out on travel size products next year - we'll see!

Do you buy travel size products before you go on holiday?

A little Holiday Haul :)

Hi Ladies,

I have just got back from an amazing holiday in NYC (I didn't want to come home!) and I picked up a few beauty related items so I thought I would share them with you :) Suprisingly, I didn't really do that much shopping, I was too busy seeing all the sights! But I'm really chuffed with the bits and bobs which I did pick up - so here we go!

1. I picked up this really cute makeup bag from bloomingdales, which I am going to keep inside my handbag - and protect my bags lovely interior from those fantastic times when lipstick and eyeliner lids decides to conveniently come off whilst inside my handbag - but never any other time! does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?!

2. Sephora by OPI nail varnish in Metro Chic - Of course I had to pick this up! its a really unusual colour and unlike anything else in my collection. Its a smokey purple tinted grey, very unique and lovley for autumn.

3. Sephora smoothing primer - I have never really felt the need to use a primer before, but I recently tried a sample of hourglasses mineral veil primer and was amazed by how it left my skin looking and feeling. Sadly, I can't afford to splash out on that at the moment, so I thought I'd give this smoothing primer by sephora a try instead and I've been really impressed. It doesn't feel as luxurious on my skin as the mineral veil but it does leave my skin feeling smooth and gives a lovely matt finish as a base for my makeup.

4. Eos Lipbalm - I spotted this at the till as I was paying for something else and was enticed by the unique packaging! I'm not sure how good this works as a balm, but it smells delicious (I can't remember the exact scent but I think its summer fruits) and the packaging is very cute.

5. NYC blushable creme stick in Plaza Pink - Although we do have some NYC products in the UK, we don't have the blushable creme sticks so I thought I would give this one a try. Plaza pink is a shimmery peach/pink, a really pretty colour but it also contains some glitter which I'm not too sure about. I've only swatched this at the moment so I will give you a proper review once I've worn it a few times, but on first impressions it blends really nicely, it not at all sticky and has a lovely smooth, sleek finish :)

6. CHI Silk Infusion - I had a mini version of this which featured in my holiday essentials post, and I love it so much that I picked up the 50ml version :) I use a pea sized amount on the ends of my hair once it has been towel dried and it leaves my hair silky, soft and smelling lush!

and thats everything! let me know if you would like a proper review of anything from this post and have a lovely weekend :)
