Review : L'oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

Hi Ladies,

For years I have switched between the same few mascara's (benefits bad gal, Stila's major major lash and L'oreal voluminous in case you were wondering!) and although new mascara's promising longer, more luscious lashes are always appearing on the market I've never really felt the need try anything new and have stuck to the motto of ''if its not broken don't fix it!''

My mum, on the other hand rarely buys the same mascara twice and her latest purchase was L'oreals volume million lashes mascara which I swiped from her makeup bag as soon as I saw the amazing gold packaging (sorry mum - a replacement has now been purchased!)

I'm really enjoying using this mascara and it might even be sneaking its way into my favourites! For me it is one of those mascara's which works much better once its dried out a little. I have naturally quite curled lashes, and to begin with applying this was a bit of a nightmare - its quite a wet mascara and I would end up with it all over my eyelids (not a good look!) but a couple of weeks on its much better.

The main thing which interested me about this mascara (aside from its amazing packaging!) was its ''anti clump wiper''. This distributes the product really evenly amongst the bristles and gets rid of any excess giving relatively clump free application. The actual wand is plastic with evenly sized bristles which taper at the ends making it really easy to reach smaller lashes. It is quite a chunky wand, and has some flexibility which makes it nice and easy to use.

The thing I have been most impressed with, is the separation this mascara gives. I always tend to go for mascara's which give lots of volume which can sometimes come at the cost of good separation of your lashes, but this mascara seems to achieve both to a reasonable extent. Having said that I wouldn't class this as a particularly good lenthening mascara (but you can't have everything I suppose!)

Overall I've really enjoyed using this mascara, and will definitely consider repurchasing. It gets a thumbs up and 7/10 :-)

Hope you're having a great week!

Product Rediscovery: Jelly Pong Pong Lip Orchid :)

Hi Ladies,

In the interest of saving some pennies for my upcoming holidays, I've been tightening those purse strings and using up makeup items from my collection instead of going out and buying new products. In doing this I have found some absolute gems! Golden oldies which I had completely forgotten about, and even a few products which I had never even used (why I do not know!) like jelly pong pong's lip orchid in bouquet :)

This is a gorgeous shimmery peachy/coral pink. It is much more like a balm than a gloss and does not feel at all sticky or drying. I have been using this both on its own for a natural touch of colour to my lips or over a nude lipstick like elf's natural numph to really brighten it up and give a really fresh, summery look :)

In the past I have been left a little underwhelmed by jelly pong pong products which I think is probably why I neglected this for so long. All I can say is I'm so glad I rediscovered it and it is now sat in pride of place on my dressing table, also how cute is that packaging?!

Have a fabulous weekend :)

Nails Of The Day - and a couple of nail must haves! :)

Hi Ladies!

I have been sporting BarryM's bright pink for a couple of days now and I absolutely love it. Its a super bright barbie pink - really fun and girly :)

The formula of this nail varnish is lovely, it applies really well - not at all streaky and gives great colour payoff after two coats. I used two other product to achieve todays nails of the day - Barbara Daly's goodbye yellow base coat (I normally use this to protect my nails from darker nail polishes) and BarryM's 3 in one basecoat, topcoat and nail hardener.

I love both of these, the Barbara Daly goodbye yellow works really well both as a base coat and on its own to give my nails a really clean and fresh appearance it also protects nails from staining by darker nail polishes. The BarryM three in one is a great versatile product - I really like using it as a topcoat as it gives a super glossy finish and definitely improves the staying power of my nail polish.

and finally another one of my favourite nail products - Sally Hansens rapid finish nail color dryer. This is the best fast drying nail product I have tried, and I really like that it is a spray and not an aerosol. It smells like shea butter and almond, and makes my nails dry to touch in less than a minute -fabulous!

and thats everything :) hope you're having a fantastic week!

Ins and Outs! :)

Hi Ladies!

Its been forever since I did one of these posts so I thought it was about time I filled you in with what's in and what's out for me at the moment :)

In

Hair braids - I've really been enjoying plaiting my hair in all sorts of different ways this summer, and after all your lovely comments on my how to fishtail braid post, I'm definitely going to do a few more hair how to's - next up the hair headband!

Soap and Glory Girligo - Initially I wasn't particulary impressed with this moisturisng mist, but after rediscovering it a couple of weeks ago I have been absolutely loving it! Its a spray so its super convenient to use, It smells divine and absorbs really quickly - I think of it as a lazy way to give skin a quick boost of moisture!

The return of X factor (soon!) - I know, I know - But I love this programme! X factor, a cup of tea and a biscuit on a saturday night - bliss!

Cinema trips in 3D - I've recently been to see Toy Story 3 (loved it!) and Step Up 3D (loved the dancing, but thought the storyline was veryyyyyy weak!) another cinema highlight was discovering a new favourite Ben and Jerrys flavour - cherry garcia - yummy!

River Island - I think river island have had some fab things in lately, and I picked up a couple of bargains in the summer sale. Most notably my new handbag which I was so chuffed to pick up for half price after eyeing it up for weeks!

Out

Hayfever - I'm really suffering with it at the moment, runny nose, itchy eyes - the lot! and even when its raining (which brings me on to my next gripe!) nightmare!

The weather - It rains, then its sunny for a little bit, then it rains even harder - Please come out sunshine I need to get my wear out of my summer clothes!

My MAC msf natural - I love this, but not since I dropped it and it shattered all over my bedroom carpet. Very sad times.

and thats everything! let me know whats in and out for you at the moment, and I hope you're having a lovely weekend :)

July Favourites :)

Hi Ladies,

So we are a little way into August now - but better late than never here are my July Favourites! :-)

1. Superdrug tea tree and peppermint shampoo and conditioner - I use these once or twice a week inbetween using my normal shampoo and conditioner (currently tigi catwalk fashionista!). They are formulated for normal hair, and leave my hair feeling deep cleaned and refreshed - lovely! :)

2. Collection 2000 hot looks in BMX bandit and Models Own in feeling blue - I have really enjoyed wearing both of these colours on my toes, and they look fab with flip flops! BMX bandit is a darker more purply blue, and feeling blue is a lighter more vibrant blue. I was lucky enough to win feeling blue in a giveaway held by the super lovely Paula :)

3.Superdrug dry shampoo in away with the fairys - I know, I know! I've already raved about this (see my last post!) But I have been loving it so much that it had to make its way into my favourites. Smells lovely, not at all chalky and leaves my hair feeling fab.

4. Almay bare it all legs - This is very similar to Sally Hansens airbrush legs, which I have used before but thought I would give this a try as it was a little cheaper (£1.00 in the pound shop to be exact!). Its really easy to use, you just spray it onto your legs evenly, blend in then leave a minute or so to dry. I often use this when I'm in a hurry, or if I want to fake tan but have time - It gives a lovely natural colour and leaves my legs looking flawless :)

5. MAC Stereo Rose MSF - I am so glad I picked this up, I think I have used it pretty much every day since I bought it and am already becoming obsessed about running out! When applied with a light hand, It gives a lovely natural coral glow to the cheeks - so lovely for summer.

6. L'oreal volume million lashes mascara - For me, L'oreal make some of the best mascara's and the volume million lashes is no exception. This has a chunky plastic brush which is easy to use and gives great volumised lashes. I found this mascara a little wet to begin with and it worked much better after a week or so when it had dried out a little. I love the gold packaging too, definitely a new favourite!

7. MAC studio finish concealer - I still find this concealer a little dry, but in the summer heat its staying power is excellent. You only need a tiny amount to give really great coverage. It is also water resistant and contains spf 35 which made it one of my favourite products on my recent summer holiday :)

8. MAC paintpot in Indianwood - I have really been enjoying going for a bronze and gold smokey eye look this summer, especially on evenings and this paintpot provides the perfect base for this. It is a lovely rich bronze and not only keeps my eyeshadow in place all night but also looks fab on its own :)

and thats everything! Have you used any of these before? and let me know any of your favourites from the past month!

Bargain Of The Week - Superdrug Dry Shampoo :)

Hi Ladies,

I was picking up a couple of bits and pieces in superdrug the other day when I spotted superdrugs own brand of dry shampoo down the haircare aisle. I'm not sure if this is new or not, but I had never seen it before, and for £1.50 I thought it was definitely worth a try and popped it in my basket!
There were two different scents available, I went for the one called ''away with the fairys'' (sorry I can't remember the name of the other one!) and the scent is absolutely lovely, it smells much more like a body spray than other dry shampoos - very light, girly and understated which I really like about it, as some dry shampoos I think you can smell a mile off! The other thing I like about it is that it is much less chalky than other dry shampoo's, and doesn't leave my hair feeling powdery at all. Infact on spraying it onto my hair it is barely noticable - excellent!

I am so impressed with this product, and for only £1.50 it is definitely deserving of bargain of the week! I am going to pick up the other scent next time I'm in superdrug so I'll let you know how that one compares!

Have you tried this before?

Summer Nails Of The Day :)

Hi Ladies,

I have been loving pinky coral nails this summer, and although i've purchased quite a few nail polishes from this family over the past few months one of my firm favourites remains to be the bargainalicious BarryM Pink Flamingo :)

This is such a pretty, wearable colour - It looks fabulous on toes too! The colour payoff is great, I normally do a couple of coats then add some of BarryM's topcoat/basecoat to help keep the chipping at bay!

I am currently lusting after Essie's Van D'go but am desperately trying to save my pennies at the moment, so if anyone has spotted a good dupe let me know!

I also recently got a formspring account, so if you have any questions you would like to ask me head over to www.formspring.me/DaisyBeeBeauty :)
