A Mini Mac Haul :-)

Hi Ladies,

I went shopping last week and picked up a couple of things from MAC so I just thought I'd share with you what I got :-)

I was looking for a couple of new eyeshadows for everyday wear. I love shimmery shadows but for day to day wear I often go a more understated, matte finish. So the two I went for were corduroy (a matte) and brule (a satin).

Corduroy is a fab, true medium brown with the slightest red undertones. I have a similar shadow in a clinque duo called tigerlilly, which I have pretty much used up so I know I'm going to get my use out of this one! It is a great shadow for the crease, as it will go with almost everything and its slightly lighter and warmer than it looks in the pan which makes it perfect for day time wear. It is a matte which makes it slightly harder to blend than some MAC shadows, but once its on it stays put all day, I'm really impressed with this one its hardly left my handbag!

Brule is the perfect shadow for the no makeup, makeup look. Its a really pretty, natural colour with the tiniest bit of shimmer. I've used it as my staple everyday lid colour (paired with corduroy) ever since I got it, and I love it! I've also used it a few times with all that glitters in the crease, for a really understated look and a couple of times to tone down my eye makeup on nights out when I've put a bit too much on!

The last thing I purchased was the studio finish concealer in NW15

There isn't really much I can say about this concealer, it does exactly what it says on the tin! It has quite a thick consistancy gives really great coverage so Its definately one you can rely on to cover any blemishes. I've been putting it on before my foundation, as I've found it easier to blend this way :-)

thats all for now!

REVIEW: Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion

Hi Ladies!

Quite a while ago now, I was sent the skin MD natural shielding lotion for reviewing purposes. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but I suffer with really bad eczema from the top to the bottom of both my legs, this has been a problem for as long as I can remember and I am forever trying out new creams, ointments and lotions. The people at Skin MD say that not only can the shielding lotion enhance your skins hydrating and protective abilities but it is also used and prescribed by dermatologists so I was particularly interested in testing it out.

Right so here is the shielding lotion pictured below, I was sent a 120ml bottle which is priced at £14.99

The first thing I was really pleased to find is that the lotion is fragrance free - my skin is so sensitive I cannot put anything with ever so much of a hint of fragrance anywhere near it. It has quite a light, thin consistancy which makes it really quick and easy to apply. I was so impressed with how quickly this lotion sinks into your skin, it is almost instantly absorbed and does not leave a greasy residue which I often find with moisturisers. This makes it a great product to grab if you are in a hurry (which I always am!). I find this to be really soothing where my eczema is particularly sore. It also leaves my skin feeling hydrated for a considerable amount of time, I can apply it in the morning and quite happily go about my business for the day without feeling like my skin is drying out or needs a top up.

I can highly recommend this product to anyone who suffers with dry skin, I find it effective, easy to use, and unlike else I have seen on the market.

If you would like to find out more about the Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion, you can here, Skin MD also do a version of the shielding lotion with added SPF :-)

My Favourite Series....Part 2 Foundation

Hi Ladies!

So this evening its time for part two of the my favourite series - foundation, and for me the top spot goes to Stila's illuminating liquid foundation :-)

This has been my favourite foundation from the first day I ever applied it - It is heaven in a bottle! I use 10 watts which is the lightest shade and a really good colour match for me (I'm a MAC NW15 if not slightly lighter than that!). This foundation is a light to medium coverage, but it is buildable, I apply it with my MAC 187. The bottle has a pump which is something I am always grateful for as its helps you to control the amount of product you use, 1 pump is usually enough for me! (an extra half pump for nights out!). The nicest thing about this foundation is the amazing healthy glow it gives you! This is something I had always wanted from a foundation, but could never quite get right untill I got my mits on this little baby! People always seem to comment and say I am looking ''very well'' whenever I am wearing this! Even though this is a lighter coverage than most of my other foundations it lasts really well and rarely needs topping up throughout the day, I normally set it with a little MAC mineralize skinfinish natural and that helps it to stay put :-)

The only problem with this foundation is that very sadly Stila products are no longer available in the UK! :-( There used to be a Stila counter in my local department store so it was always really easy to pick this up, now...not so much! Thankfully there are still some UK websites which stock this (sorry I don't know the names off the top of my head!) and you can pick it up at sephora if you are ever on holiday! Luckily for me my lovely boyfriend usually picks this up for me before we go on holiday as a pre holiday present, he also got me some for christmas this year so I won't be running out of Stila anytime soon! Also I'm not sure how much this foundation costs now, when you could get it from stila in the UK it was around £27.00 so it is a little pricey, but for me, worth every penny :-)

and now to the runners up!

  • MAC studio fix - always a winner

  • Estee Lauder Double wear - Heavier coverage, but a fab foundation

  • Loreal Infallible - Great staying power

What is your favourite foundation?

I'm so glad I found you! - Too faced herbal eye concealer mini review :-)

Hi Ladies!

A couple of weeks ago one of my holy grail makeup products went missing - very sad times! This holy grail product was too faced's herbal eye concealer - A product which I literally use every day as an eye base, an under eye concealer.....an everywhere concealer! it is a really great versatile product which never leaves my handbag (well apart from while it was missing!)
Being on project 10 pan it took all my will power not to dash out and buy a replacement, I have other products which do the same job but it just hasn't been the same! So you can imagine my delight when last night whilst using a coat hanger to drag things out from under my bed (I was on a tidying spree!) I uncovered this!

yayyyyy! I'm sorry it looks so tatty in the photo - This literally comes everywhere with me! I'm so chuffed to have it back that I thought I'd tell you all about why I love it so much :-)

So, Too Faced describe the herbal eye concealer as having a formula where eye cream and eye concealers collide. They claim it banishes bags brightens the appearance of dark circles and reduce puffiness. How? with the help of Ginseng, Lavender, Green Tea and Pomegranate - to protect and guard against aging, all while reducing puffiness, and cucumber & Apple Seed - to moisturizes and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

and what do I think?

I have to agree! I have never got to grips with the likes of urban decay primer potion and too faced shadow insurance, I find it difficult to control the amount of product you use when applying them and I much prefer something with a creamier consistancy. Too faced's herbal eye concealer works perfectly for me. As an eye base, it holds my shadow in place all day and as an under eye concealer it blends perfectly with my skintone and doesn't feel heavy or go cakey. It is a fab product to keep in your handbag, it also makes a great concealer if a troublesome blemish pops up and I need to conceal it during the day! I also really like the fact that it has so many herbal ingredients - they make me feel like I am being a little kinder on my eyes :-)

The herbal eye concealer comes in three shades and I use the lightest of the three which is london light, I think it costs around £13.00 :-)

Sorry if I sound a bit over excited in this post, I just really love this product and I'm so glad I found it!

Nails Of The Day - OPI Do you lilac it?

Hi Ladies!

I just thought i'd share with you the nail varnish that I am currently sporting, and it is OPI's do you lilac it?

This is one of the three OPI polishes I purchased last week, and I love it! it is a really true lilac in colour, but is not at all overpowering and is really pretty for day to day wear. The picture is taken after two coats, this polish could probably do with three but i'm always reluctant to apply three coats as I find the polish doesn't last quite as long.

I'm really impressed with the OPI brush, its really big which makes applying the varnish quick and easy!

Hope you've had a lovely weekend

My Favourite Series..Part 1 - Moisturiser

Hi Ladies!

So I have decided to do a short series of blog posts called my favourite. For each post I am going to give a brief low down my number one favourite product from each section (ie eyeshadow, cleanser, hairspray etc) then list my three runners up :-)

So here is part one from the seris and it is my favourite moisturiser. This coverted title goes to the garnier fresh 24 hour hydrating day cream.

It is the green one in the picture above, the pink moisturiser comes a close 2nd (see runners up!)

This product is an absolute gem and I have repurchased it countless times. It costs around £5.00 in superdrug but is often on offer and can sometimes be found at cheaper stores (like savers and bodycare). Just like its name it leaves my skin feeling incredibly fresh, hydrated and not at all greasy. It soaks straight into my skin and has a light almost gel like consistancy similar to pricier moisturisers like cliniques moisture surge :-)

and now for the runners up!

  • Garnier soft 24 hour nourishing day cream (another little gem!)

  • Clinique dramatically different moisturising gel (pricey but worth the pennies

  • Number 7 Essential Moisture Day Cream (a great one if you have a number 7 voucher!)

What are your favourite moisturisers?

My first OPI's :-)

Hi Ladies!

Just a quick post to show you these little babies which I acquired recently....my first ever OPI polishes yay! Firstly I know, I am on project 10 pan at the moment and this is a bit of a fail *slaps wrist!* but other this one teenie weenie little purchase I am doing really well (I've also used up 3 things so far - update coming soon!)

So I said in my things I would like to try in 2010 post that if I ever did get my mits on some OPI polishes my first one would probably be do you lilac it, so it will come as no suprise that that was the first one which went into my basket! closely followed by mod about you and my private jet :-)

At the moment I am sporting my private jet and I absolutely adore the colour its completely different from anything else in my nail polish collection and so pretty! I can't wait to try out the other two :-)

Let me know if you would like to see swatches of any of these, and what is your favourite OPI polish? I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a couple more soon!

Hope you're having a lovely week!
