Friends....Reunited! :)

Hi Ladies,

If you have been followng my blog for a while (can you believe I've been blogging for over 2 years now - my goodness!) then there is no doubt you will of heard me rave on about Stila's illuminating skin foundation before. Ever since I first purchased it in my 2nd year of uni (some 4 years ago now!) It has been my holy grail foundation. Sadly a few years ago stila became no longer available in the UK, and we had to part ways only to be reunited when family members went on trips across the pond. On my summer holiday this year, my lovely boyfriend suprised me with a bottle of the illuminating skin foundation - the right shade and everying (10 watts if you're interested). Even he comments on how much nicer my makeup looks when I'm wearing this foundation - and thats saying something! I was super chuffed and have been using it daily since.

This foundation isn't for everyone, It does have shimmer in it (similar to revlon's photoready) and although the shimmer isn't visable when you apply it - it does give a very dewy finish. It is also a light-medium coverage and isn't particularly buildable, and it a little pricey at around £26. However for my skin this is the perfect foundation. It gives me just the right amount of coverage I need,  not too much and not too little. It leave's my skin feeling light and fresh I absolutely love it!

I've also heard on the grapevine that stila is back in the UK! has anyone seen their products anywhere?

Whats In My Makeup Bag..? Handbag Edition!

Hi Ladies,

As I have never actually done a whats in my makeup bag post (I know - crazy!) I thought it was about time I jumped on the bandwagon! As my make up collection is in complete disarray at the moment with moving house, I decided to show you what I carry around in the little makeup bag which I keep in my handbag.

This was a Christmas present which came with some smellies in, I believe it is from boots - how cute are the cupcakes! I literally emptied out the contents and photographed them for you so there were a couple of things which had somehow creeped inside (hello essie nail varnish!).

So - Whats inside?

MAC eyeshadow in tissueweight - This is a lovely peachy pink, perfect for day to day wear.

MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer NW15 - This concealer has great coverage and lasts forever.

MAC Viva Glam GAGA lipstick - Everyone needs a fabulous pink lippie!

Essie Exposure Nail Varnish - My current favourite nail polish, no idea why it was in here though!

Loreal Voluminous Mascara - I picked this up recently, it used to be my holy grail mascara and I still think its fab, but its a little clumpier than I remember!

MAC Teddy Eyeliner - dark brown eyeliner with a touch of gold

Stila kajal Eyeliner in topaz - a nude/peach eyeliner, perfect for the inner corner and lower lash line to brighten up tired eyes!

Loreal Super Liner in carbon gloss - Liquid eyeliner with great staying power

MAC Brushes - 217 great for blending, mini 187 I use my full size 187 for applying liquid foundation but I use this one for applying my MSF natural for touch ups during the day, mini 168 lovely fluffy blush brush.

And finally I keep these in the front pocket of my handbag so I couldn't leave them out! :) MAC msf natural, and Stereo Rose - Which I have already hit pan on! If anyone knows a good dupe, please let me know!

Product Rediscovery, and a little update! :-)

Hi Ladies,

Gosh its been a while! But I'm back with a product rediscovery and a little update for you all! :) Over Christmas I've been moving house, and during the move I sorted through my makeup and decided what I wanted to keep and what was definitely past its sell by date! One product which hopped straight out of my dusty makeup drawer and into my handbag was this Stila convertible colour in Petunia.

This was actually the first Stila product I ever purchased about four years ago (not the exact one I'm showing you -I promise I'm not still using makeup that old!). If you've been following my blog for a while, you'll know that I'm a big fan of Stila products, although they're not widely available in the UK any more I have seen occasional things pop up in stores like Tk Maxx so definitely look out for them!

The Convertible colours are cream blushes which can also be used as a lips tints. Petunia is a really pretty pink which I find adds just the right pinch of colour to my cheeks in these wintery months! Its really well pigmented so a little goes a long way, and its a great product for the handbag as not only is it a two in one product but it has a little mirror inside too! :)

In other news, I had a lovely Christmas and New Year and I hope you all did too :) I did get a few beauty produts as Christmas presents which I have been enjoying so I'll hopefully do a post on them soon. I've really been enjoying watching dvd's at the moment and have been picking up a few cheap ones over the sales, two of my best buys have been Britannia High episodes 1-4 for £1.99 - bargain! Did anyone else watch this while it was on? So cheesey but my and my friend absolutely loved it! and The devil wears prada for £3.00 what a fab film. If you have any recommendations let me know!

Bargain Of The Week: Stila 4 Pan Palette :)

Hi Ladies :-)

If you've been following my blog for a while you'll know that Stila is probably my favourite makeup brand. Their illuminating liquid foundation has been my holy grail product for years and their eyeshadows are some of the best I've ever used. I have a few Stila eyeshadow palettes then a few eyeshadows in pan form which I've ummh-ed and ahh-ed over buying a palette for for ages. So I'm sure you can imagine my delight when I spotted this total bargain in Tk Maxx the other day!

A four pan palette for £2.99! I was so chuffed I practically skipped to the till! It is the perfect size, and has a huge mirror inside, great for taking away for weekends or just popping in your handbag. My three pan form eyeshadows now have a lovely new home!

There were some other Stila bits and bobs and also a few NYX palettes and Calvin Klein products too so it's definitely worth a look if you're passing TK Maxx anytime soon. I just need one more eyeshadow to complete the family now, does anyone have any suggestions?

My Holiday Essentials :)

Hi Ladies!

I'm back! I had a super lovely holiday, the hotel we stayed in was amazing - It was right on the seafront with its own stretch of beach, and a lovely pool and gardens. I feel completely chilled out and relaxed now, I didn't want to come home!

So I thought I'd show you the products/makeup which I used the most on holiday, as I thought it might be helpful for anyone who is about to go on their holidays (lucky you!). I tried to take literally the essentials (to keep the luggage weight down and to stop my boyfriend from freaking out - he wasn't pleased when he saw the 8 different nail polishes I decided to take with me after nearly forgetting all of my holiday money - whoops!).

My hair care routine is normally pretty extensive and although I did take a couple more products on holiday the two I was really pleased to have packed in my suitcase were Mark Hill's heat protection spray and Chi's Silk Infusion. I bought the mini chi silk infusion from ebay after hearing so many good things about it. I didn't want to splash out and buy the full size as it is a little pricy and I am pretty picky when it comes to haircare. I used this a few times before I went on holiday and wasn't overly impressed, but decided to take it on holiday and give it a proper try seen as it was perfect travel size and now I love it! It really made a difference to the texture of my hair which was pretty dry from the sun, sea and sand and daily washing! I applied a tiny bit to the ends of my hair before blow drying for super silky locks :) The Mark hill heat protection does exactly what it says on the tin - its not overly scented like some heat protectants I have previously used, and it works well on dry and wet hair :)

I used Blistex Intense Moisturiser morning and night, as my lips get really dry on holiday. This works perfectly I can still feel it on my lips in the morning and it has an added spf which is always a plus - Although I did use a sunblock for my lips during the day too :)

I didn't want to take a full bottle of eye makeup remover so I took these tesco sensitive skin eye makeup remover wipes and they worked a treat! gentle and effective - even on waterproof mascara!

During the day I was completely makeup free, and tried to keep it pretty simple on an evening too. I picked up MAC's Stereo Rose MSF the day before I went on holiday and I'm so glad I did, it looked perfect with a little bit of a tan, and gave me lovely glowing pinky coral cheeks. I also took a MSF natural + shimmer which I picked up at a CCO instead of my usual MSF natural, so that I could use the shimmer as a highlighter and avoid taking unnecessary extra makeup! As it happens the lovely glow from my shiney new stereo rose meant a highlight wasn't really necessary but I did use the MSF natural on my T zone to get rid of any shininess and to help keep my makeup in place :) Benefit Hoola is my holy grail bronzer, which got just as much use on holiday as it does at home! and my mascara of choice was Rimmels Lash Max in brown which my sister picked me up for my birthday (thanks Liv!). This is a comb mascara which I'm not usually too keen on, but its not clumpy at all and applies perfectly. Also as its a brown mascara, it helped keep my makeup a little more subtle and natural. I'm not usually a fan of number 7 products but their eye base is fantastic and kept my eyeshadow in place perfectly.

For eyeshadow, I mainly used my Stila Marrakesh palette. This is a great size for travelling and has for lovely warm colours in it. I particularly like the dusty pink in the top left corner, I don't normally wear pink eyeshadow but this one looks really natural and pretty as an all over lid colour. MAC's Corduroy and Naked Lunch are two of my all time favourites, Corduroy is the perfect matt brown and looks great in the outer corner blended with pretty much any eyeshadow! Smashboxes champagne is a new favourite, the perfect light gold - lovely as an all over lid colour, I also used it blended with Corduroy in the outer corner for a little extra definition.
and finally, a couple of hair accessories! I am obsessed with hair bows, and these black satin ones from H&M were perfect for clipping back my fringe in the heat. I picked up the plaited floral headband in primark for £1.00 and wore it most days to keep my hair off my face whilst swimming and lounging around on the beach :)

My Favourite Series Part 4....Eyeshadow

It is time for the fourth part of my favourite series and todays product is eyeshadow. It was really hard for me to pick this one because there are so many eyeshadows which I really love, then ones that are a bit more boring to look at but I wear all the time - so I went for one which I love to look at and love to wear and it is.....*drum roll!*........Stila Barefoot Contessa :-)

This is actually my 2nd Barefoot Contessa, which is testament to how much I love this eye shadow as there are only a handful of eyeshadows which I have ever had to repurchase! It is a gorgeous dark burgundy/plum brown with a very slight gold shimmer. It applys and blends well, looks lovely in the crease for a smokey look or lightly dusted over the lid for an all over colour. Its really easy to build on this shadow if you want a more intense colour so I use it for day and for night :-) I own quite a few stila shadows and i'm always impressed by their quality. The pigmentation is great, and they staying power is fantastic. My only grumble is that they all come in pan form so you have to pay extra for the magnetic holders and palettes.

My Favourite Series....Part 2 Foundation

Hi Ladies!

So this evening its time for part two of the my favourite series - foundation, and for me the top spot goes to Stila's illuminating liquid foundation :-)

This has been my favourite foundation from the first day I ever applied it - It is heaven in a bottle! I use 10 watts which is the lightest shade and a really good colour match for me (I'm a MAC NW15 if not slightly lighter than that!). This foundation is a light to medium coverage, but it is buildable, I apply it with my MAC 187. The bottle has a pump which is something I am always grateful for as its helps you to control the amount of product you use, 1 pump is usually enough for me! (an extra half pump for nights out!). The nicest thing about this foundation is the amazing healthy glow it gives you! This is something I had always wanted from a foundation, but could never quite get right untill I got my mits on this little baby! People always seem to comment and say I am looking ''very well'' whenever I am wearing this! Even though this is a lighter coverage than most of my other foundations it lasts really well and rarely needs topping up throughout the day, I normally set it with a little MAC mineralize skinfinish natural and that helps it to stay put :-)

The only problem with this foundation is that very sadly Stila products are no longer available in the UK! :-( There used to be a Stila counter in my local department store so it was always really easy to pick this up, now...not so much! Thankfully there are still some UK websites which stock this (sorry I don't know the names off the top of my head!) and you can pick it up at sephora if you are ever on holiday! Luckily for me my lovely boyfriend usually picks this up for me before we go on holiday as a pre holiday present, he also got me some for christmas this year so I won't be running out of Stila anytime soon! Also I'm not sure how much this foundation costs now, when you could get it from stila in the UK it was around £27.00 so it is a little pricey, but for me, worth every penny :-)

Bargain Stila Makeup and I've got a twitter!

Hi Ladies, this is just a really quick post to let you know that on the Debenhams website they are selling Stila make-up half price!

I ordered a couple of things last night including the illuminating skin foundation (which I have raved about here -its gorgeous!) If you've never tried stila before it is a lovely high quality brand, I adore their products and can't say enough good things about them! Also, Stila not really available anywhere in the UK anymore, so i'd definately get some ordered from here if you fancy trying something new! Here is the link : Bargain Stila at Debenhams!. A few things are no longer available which were last night when I ordered, so if you would like to get something I'd get your skates on before they sell out! also if you buy any shadows they come in pan form, I think you can order the pots for putting them in half price too if you want them to look pretty :-)

My top three foundations :-)

Hiya! So, I thought I'd do a quick post on my top three favourite foundations :-) I have naturally blonde hair and extremely fair skin so find it very hard to find foundations which match my skintone. I also have very sensitive skin and have to be careful with what I try. After alot of trying and testing I have found three foundations which manage to meet all my requirements! :-D

First up is MAC studiofix fluid, the colour I use is NW15. You might be able to tell from the photo that compared to the other two foundations, especially Stila, studiofix is the darkest shade I have. My skin is slightly lighter than a NW15 however I tend to wear this when I go out during the summer and I have a bit of a tan. The formulation of studiofix is fantastic it literally stays put all day, it blends nicely into my skin with a 187 and provides the most long lasting coverage I have ever had from a foundation. However I do find it a little heavy for day to day wear and as I said earlier tend to wear it on nights out, for special occasions and long days at work!

Next up is Stila's illuminating liquid foundation in 10 watts. This foundation is much truer to my natural skin tone. For me, it bridges the gap between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation giving me just the right amount of coverage during the summer months! The best thing about this product is the amazing dewy glow it gives you, I have never known a foundation like it! it leaves you with a beautiful natural finish and smells lovely too! I know this is really hard to get hold of in the UK now (i'm treating this bottle like gold dust!) but I think there may be some places online that you can still order it. It also comes with a pump so you can use just the right amount!

Last but by no means least is prescriptives virtual skin, in which I have the colour yellow/orange real cream 02. I love love love love love this foundation! it is long wearing, oil free and gives a really natural finish, I love prescriptives makeup and you don't seem to hear about it much so here is a massive big up to prescriptives! If you're looking for a natural long lasting foundation I can highly reccomend virtual skin. I think it cost about £23 so is on par with most high end foundations.

Lastly, today I was thinking about the foundations I used to use when I was younger. I was a die hard fan of maybellines dream matt mouse, I can't remember what shade I used to use but if i ever ran out and my colour was sold out I would literally buy whatever other colour superdrug had to offer! I loved the stuff! did anyone else use this foundation? I'm getting all nostalgic and want to go buy some! Does anyone have any great foundations they'd like to reccomend?
